Job Title: Chamber Director
Reports To: VCDC President & CEO
FLSA Status: Full Time, Salaried, Non-Exempt: $17/hr - $22/hr, DOQ

The Chamber Director is the front line to the members of the Vermillion Area Chamber of Commerce and gets to work with members in helping them promote their business. The Chamber Director is responsible for developing and implementing member recruitment and retention strategies to strengthen the base of the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber Director also promotes and reviews member benefits to make sure they meet member expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Solicit new business to become Chamber members
•Provide information to potential and current members regarding member benefits
•Assist with reviewing, improving and developing member benefits
•Work with staff on promoting the community of Vermillion, specifically Chamber members
•Organize and administer events, such as:
•Annual Banquet & Golf Social
•Membership Socials, Ribbon Cuttings, Ground Breaking Ceremonies
•Holiday and community Events
•Collaborate with other chambers: legislative issues, member benefits, etc.
•Constant communication and connecting with current and potential members
•Lead volunteer committees in the VCDC and continually recruit new engagement
•Serve on community board organizations.
•Update organizational website(s) including content creation
•Assist with content creation for organizational newsletters
•Assist with the development and distribution of marketing materials
•Work collaboratively with the Economic Development and Tourism functions of the VCDC
•Assist with staffing and planning of organization wide events, as needed.
The ideal candidate is an outgoing, energetic self-starter with a passion for sales, marketing and customer service. A "can-do" attitude is a must! The position requires that a person be able to work with minimum supervision; have the ability to work with volunteers, members and the general public. Maintaining strict confidentiality in business dealings; and present a positive, professional image to customers and staff is vital to the success of this position contributing to the mission and objectives of the Vermillion Chamber and Development Company. Job requirements include excellent oral and written communications skills, knowledge in social media, Microsoft Word, Excel, and the ability to learn new software programs. Experience in design software, and Chamber Master are a plus! Candidates must also have experience leading volunteer committees and spearheading special events. Knowledge of the Vermillion community is a plus. Two years in sales, marketing or chamber work preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma required, bachelors preferred.

Job Title:Part-Time Development Coordinator for Greening Vermillion
Time commitment: 20 hours per month
Greening Vermillion is seeking a part-time Development Coordinator to assist with grant applications and organizational fundraising. We are looking for an experienced grant writer with knowledge of general fundraising principles who can help Greening Vermillion reach its fundraising goals.
Greening Vermillion is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Vermillion South Dakota. Our mission is to “engage our community in creating a more sustainable Vermillion.” We have ongoing campaigns throughout the community focused on storm water quality, waste reduction, and sustainability education. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for the Vermillion community and an active interest in creating a more sustainable Vermillion.
- Seek and apply for grants consistent with Greening Vermillion Board program objectives in collaboration with the Board
- Work with Treasurer and project manager to set budgets and manage finances for active and future grants
- Work with Treasurer and Greening Vermillion Board to create fundraising plan
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Knowledge of Quickbooks Accounting Software, or willingness to learn
- Proficient writing ability
- Experience and success in writing grant proposals
Previous non-profit experience and residency in the Vermillion area are pluses. A laptop is available for this position, and you are able to work from home—or any location.
