Special Events Committee

Purpose:

· The role of the committee is to facilitate, organize and run the various activities and events voted on and approved by the committee.
Activities: Annual 4th of July Celebration, Annual Meeting & Banquet, Holiday Events (Tree Lighting and the Parade of Lights)

Member Education & Development

Purpose:

· To plan and execute training on business topics that specifically affect our Chamber members and Vermillion area businesses
Activities: Educational seminars, training, and presentations

Ambassadors

Purpose:

· Serve as the goodwill and public relations representatives of the VCDC. · Attend ribbon cuttings, new business openings, ground breaking ceremonies, expansions and business relocations. · Strive to attend community events, parades and festivals in the area communities. · Assist and/or host VCDC sponsored events. · Act as hosts or "Ambassadors" for other city functions when called upon. · Be in a position to make out-of-town visitations when important events occur, such as the annual USD/Vermillion Day in Pierre.
Activities: Ribbon Cuttings, Open Houses, Membership Mixers, Annual Golf Social
Meeting Time: 1st Tuesday of each month, 12-1pm

Economic Development Committee

Purpose:

· The role of the Committee is to identify and implement initiatives that will carry out the goals outlined in the VCDC strategic plan, make policy recommendations to the Board of Directors, and serve as a review and advisory panel in the RFI process.

Legislative Affairs Committee

Purpose:

· To strengthen communication between the community and government entities and to work to stay up to date on legislative issues and keep the VCDC membership informed.
Activities: Cracker Barrel Sessions, Vermillion Day in Pierre, Candidate Forums
